Ever since I started my support of the New York Yankees back when I first can remember in 1993 I have been scrutinized and harassed because I was a front runner and had not a clue about anything that goes on in baseball. All this went in one ear and out the other and I was rewarded in 1996 when the Yanks went on to win their first of four World Series titles in five years. This just made the criticisms come more frequent but I didn't care because it seemed like they would never lose. Now it's been a long seven years since the Yankees have won a World Series and the Yankee haters are out in full force claiming that the Yankees are horrible, wont win another title, etc. All we must do here is look at facts and as of right now the Yankees are a minor two games out of the playoffs with over a month to go and eight games out of first place, with six games left with the Red Sox and even though it is a long shot to catch Boston, "it ain't over till it's over" just like '78.
Actually since the last time I updated my blog the Yanks were playing horribly but these past 2 days they have handily taken care of the Red Sox and are going for the sweep at 1 o'clock today. I have all the confidence in the world now that I see how they can play when the pressure is on and they have really proven to me and the rest of the world that this isnt a team that is just going to lay over and croak but this is a team that is looking to not only make it to the playoffs but go far and hopefully bring home the 27th title in their storied history. As of right now the Yankees are tied with the Mariners for the last playoff spot and are locked up with Seattle next week for a crucial 3 game series that could have some serious playoff implications.
I have made it to 11 games this year at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx and 90% of the time I sat in the right field bleachers with the true Yankee fans the "bleacher creatures". These guys that sit over here are crazy and if you do something thats not approved for the bleachers like do stupid chants, wear suits and ties, talk on your cell phone, etc. they will get on you for a good portion of the game. They get on you just as much as they do to the right fielders on the other teams. They have chants that have been going on for years there and they also created one of the most unique part of going to a Yankee game and thats the role call when everyone in the bleachers stand up and salute each player on the field by chanting their name and they all acknowledge the fans by giving a wave or a point to the bleacher creatures. I am making myself to one more game this year in late September and hopefully it will be of some meaning and hopefully just be the beginning of their playoff push in '07.

There certainly are many yankee haters Chad. I myself am a fan of the yankees and find it quite funny how so many people hate the yankees, however follow terrible teams themselves. I guess when a team like the yankees win 26 world championships, it really proves how bad they are...
As much as I hate to sympathize with a Yankee fan, being a Red Sox fan, I know all to well the criticism people give surrounding good teams. I have been a Red Sox fan since day one, in my family you are just born into it. I have supported the Red Sox my whole life, wearing the clothes, fightin the good fight with the Yankee fans, and being disappointed over and over again each year when they blow it. Now ever since 2004 when the Red Sox finally won the World Series people just assume that I like them because they just won. Now I can see the confusion because I never used to see Red Sox apparel anywhere in New York except for a few people who I knew were real fans, and all a sudden you cant walk anywhere without seeing a Boston hat, or Big Papi jersey. Basically bandwagon fans are killing the true spirit of the baseball fan.
I dont know how you could be criticized for being a yankees fan when you enjoyed their ball playing in 1993, they weren't that great of a team back then and by the way if you live near yankee stadium say the bronx or westchester county if your a yankees fan then you would not be criticized for liking america's number 1 franchise. It just goes to show you how many people are jealous and they only do it out of spite. Now the team that everyone should criticize are the bo sox because they try to copy the yankees and they complain and make excuses for reasons why they are not as good or will never be as great as the yankees; for example, babe ruth, joe dimaggio and phil rizzuto.
People who call us Yankee fans front runners are full of Sh*t. Before I say anything though I have to sauy that there are people who don't care and who really are front runners, but thats not us real fans. It's not our fault the Yankees are good and whatever team they're a fan of isn't. So like you said, "To all the haters"...have fun watching us have fun.
I think this blog is awesome! I love the Yankees! I went to about 5-6 Yankee games this summer. I have to say I never sat in the Bleacher sections. I trie to several times this summer and they are pretty tough to get.. I bet it is awesome!
I don't really like to talk about how much I can't stand the Yankees, as its in poor taste. But I gotta say that I REALLY hate it when people talk about how the Yankees have won 26 World Series Titles when most people have been alive for four of them. How can you celebrate the other 22 when you weren't alive and a lot of the players from that era are dead or almost there. I never quite understood that . . . I am a Mets fan, and the only title I ever talk about of theirs is the one in 86' and that's a stretch because I was two.
