If you are any sort of sports fan you will realize that October is the greatest month for any type of sports fan. We have baseball whos regular season has just come to a close and the playoffs just about to begin. We have football going into the mid part of their season which separates the contenders from the pretenders. We have the start of the greatest game on ice, hockey, and this year will be the year of the Islanders. We also have the start of the NBA at the very end of the month.
After reading a couple of my blogs youll realize that I mostly look forward to the Major League Baseball playoffs in this great month. Baseball's playoffs are the best out of any other sport because only 4 teams come out of each league so it really shows the best quality of teams unlike the other leagues that allow 6 or even 8 teams into the post season. Baseball in October is like nothing else either because it gets extremely cold in some places and makes the game that much harder to play and when guys make plays in the freezing cold you have to respect them that much more.
By October the NFL is in full swing and you really get to see which teams will be playoff worthy and which teams will be making tee times for January. The weather is beginning to turn throughout the month and the hits get harder and the ball also gets harder which once again has to impress the audience whose watching these guys put theyre bodies on the line when you know once you get hit its going to hurt for a very long time.
The NHL and NBA are just getting started up during October which brings back 2 of the most exciting games in the world. It shall be very interesting to see the fans reaction to the whole ref dilemma in the NBA and to see if the NHL can bring back all of the fans that they lost due to theyre lockout just a few seasons ago.

home
After a long week or a long four weeks in my case there is nothing better than going back to where you started it all and that's home. Dont get me wrong I love living on my own and doing whatever I want to but nothing is better than doing whatever I want to do with a little help from my parents.
It is ridiculously easy for me to do laundry in my house here in Cortland because my washer and dryer are right outside my bedroom door but the effort of putting the clothes in and folding them after they are done is really annoying and when I go home for the weekend my ma takes the liberty of doing this job herself which really helps me out. This past weekend was no different as she had my clothes ready for me when I left Sunday afternoon all nice.
Going home also gives me time to relax and hang out with the people that I grew up with and do some of the stupid things that we did back in high school all over again like street drinking on our way to the bar and stuff like that.
This past weekend I brought home 2 of my friends from Cortland, the main reason to bring them to a Yankee game because they have never been to one before and the other was to show them around Long Island a litttle bit. We had great weather on Friday but this was our traveling day as we spent 4 hours in my truck and then another 2 on the trains and subways going to and from Yankee Stadium so we really didnt get to enjoy the nice weather.
Saturday came with everyone saying how nice it was going to be but it turned out to be a disgustingly overcast and rainy day all day. I had plans to take my friends to the beach which got cancelled because of how terrible it was outside, but I took that opportunity to drive them around and show them some of the sights around my house.
Sunday was probably the nicest day in a long time but that really didnt help us at all because this again was our traveling day as we left my humble abode at 2:00 and made it back here in a swift 3 hours and 15 minutes. All in all it was a good weekend, only if Saturday would have been nice it would have been a perfect weekend.

OJ
Its pretty hard to believe how much OJ Simpson's life has gone down hill after he got out of the NFL in 1979. OJ went after his acting career after football and it never really got going for him. He was in a couple of movies and tv shows the best being Naked Gun 33 1/3. He was actually really funny in that movie or maybe I just think he's funny because hes the biggest joke in the world.
We all know how he was accused of murdering his ex wife along with her boyfriend back in 1994 and we all know that he got acquitted of all criminal charges. I remember this trial exactly back in '94 from when he was running from the police on the freeways of California that summer to the end of the trial when you see OJ with a huge smile on his face showing how relieved he was. Even back then this made me sick even though I was only in 3rd grade I knew, just like the rest of the world, that all of the evidence pointed at OJ and he was definitely guilty.
Now for all of you that dont know, Mr. Simpson has gotten himself into some more trouble. He is now in jail being held without bail because he has now committed 6 felonies. They include robbery at gunpoint, assault with a deadly weapon and so on. This cannot come to any surprise to anybody that OJ would get in more trouble and has the possibility to go to jail. Like I said earlier this guy is a clown. He thinks that life is a joke and doesn't understand that just because you're not getting your way you cant just go out and assault, hold up, or even kill people.
The best part about this story was the quote that they got from OJ after he got arressted and it goes "I thought that whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". This proves that this guy is a joke and that he does not deserve to be out in the open with society and that he should have been in jail the past 12 years and for the remainder of his life.

why 26?
I understand why people get angry whenever Yankee fans talk about their 26 World Series championships, it's because they hate to admit that the Yankees are the most consistent franchise in all of sports. I might sound arrogant, but it's definitely the truth. how many other sports organizations can say that they win a championship every four year? None.
Its true that I am only 20 years old and it's true that I've only seen 4 of the 26 but people go lifetimes without seeing their teams win it all (Boston, Chicago, etc.). It's also true that some "Yankee fans" dont know what they're talking about and just ramble off numbers to try and make it sound like they know what they're talking about, but thats not me. I'm pretty much a Yankee geek and know a good amount of the history from day one all the way back in 1903.
Obviously I wasn't alive in 1903 but I enjoy looking back at legends like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Billy Martin, Micky Mantle, Roger Maris and the list goes on. I am also not the only one who likes to look back at Yankee history because ESPN came out with a very successful series this summer called The Bronx is Burning, about the Yankees 1977 season.
I really dont think that talking about history should make any people upset or angry, everyone should embrace it and realize that this team is special and that you probably wont see too many teams win 4 World Series' in 5 years in your lifetime. Im also not saying that everyone should be a Yankee fan or root for them in any way but you should be able to look at them when the day is over and say I respect the New York Yankees.

cheating
Its kind of ridiculous that grown men who are getting paid millions of dollars and have everything in the palm of their hands, have to use all different types of methods to cheat. For the past couple of years all you have been hearing about is the steroid issue going on in baseball and now how its spreading rapidly to all mainstream sports, but the cheating doesnt stop there as we saw on Sunday with the New England Patriots.
The Patriots were using video cameras to watch the Jets' defensive signals to get a better idea of what kind of defense they were throwing at them. I am not a Patriot fan by any respect but for the past decade even if you didnt like them you would have to respect them. Now after these accusations came out how can you believe that they won those 3 super bowls without cheating.
I think it's pretty pathetic that this isn't a bigger issue because everyone for the past 7 or 8 years has been all over Barry Bonds for steroids and he didn't even got caught doing them, the Patriots were caught red handed blatantly taping the Jets signals. So what were the punishments? Forfeits? Nope. Suspensions? Nope. The Patriots and head coach Bill Belicheck got a slap on the wrist with a fine to Belicheck and the organization and the loss of a draft pick. I heard people say that this was a good and reasonable punishment and to this i ask huh?
This is just another stunt by the NFL trying to keep their image from getting tainted. Hahaha. The NFL is pretty much in shambles right now with the Mike Vick, Pacman Jones, Lance Briggs, and that steroids and HGH issue just to name a few. If the NFL and Roger Goddell want to improve their image then they should make an example of Belicheck and the mighty Patriots and turn the NFL back into a league that just plays football.

the Doors
One of the all time greatest bands if not the greatest band of all time is the Doors. Led by the American Poet Jim Morrison the Doors are my Dad's favorite band and that's pretty much what started my love for the band. One of my good friends Conor is also a huge Doors fan and he's gotten me into them a lot more recently. Their music is great, they have all different types of songs, some that are meant to pump you up and some are just meant to sit and chill. Jim Morrison is the man too. His voice is like no others in the history of music its very distinct and very good in my opinion.
Jim and I have the same birthday which i take a lot of pride in. Jim Morrison was a good man but had a lot of problem away from music which cut his music career and life short. Jim, like many rockstars back in the '70s, used a lot of different drugs which eventually led to his sudden death. He's apart of the forever 27 which is musicians who were all extremely popular that died at the age of 27 due to drug overdoses and other freak accidents. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones, and Kurt Cobain are the other rockers who died at the age of 27.
All in all I hope you all can appreciate and respect me saying that the Doors is the greatest band of all time and if youve never listened to them you should probably go and find a Doors cd and pop it in for a little while and understand why I like them so much.

maggots
By far the most annoying part about having your own place is taking care of everything. You dont realize how nice it is to have somebody take care of things that you dont realize mean that much especially things like getting rid of the garbage from your place. Because my roomates and I are all procastinators we were taking the bags of garbage to the outside of our house but we didnt take care of it after that for about a week. Living with 6 guys you can imagine how quickly garbage piles up on us and a week is a very long time.
There were massive amounts of flies by the garbage the other day but after about a day and a half all the flies seemed to go away but we didnt realize how big of a problem we had until tonight when were about to call it a night that we had a much bigger problem on our hands. We saw hundreds of maggots out by our garbage so we made a decision to throw all the bags in the back of my pickup truck and dump it in some dumpsters down the street. There were so many bags of garbage that it filled up the whole back of my truck but with 5 other guys it was quickly in and quickly out.
When we got back to our house we noticed the hundreds of maggots we outside our side door trying to make it in the house so we quickly got bleach from inside cover the all in bleach and pour boiling water on them a couple times. We are now guna take turns waking up at night to make sure none are making there way in here. So advice to everyone getting their own place for the first time, make sure you stay up on things if you want to live in a clean environment.
